Take Time for Yourself and Get More Done

Every day I try to make time for myself. Whether it’s hitting the trails for some bike riding, the health club for some exercise, the couch for some knitting, or simply curling up to read a book, I need time to myself. Each of these is my way to pause, reset, and clear my mind of the chaos from the day. It’s my recharge time. How do you recharge every day?

What would happen if you didn’t recharge your cell phone tonight? It wouldn’t work tomorrow. Pretty straight forward. How would that impact your day? What wouldn’t you be able to get done?

What happens when you don’t recharge yourself? It will take longer to complete tasks, your patience may quickly run thin, your problem-solving abilities will be diminished, you don’t get as much done, and so much more. How to recharge?

Here are some ideas:

  • Get at least 7 hours of sleep
  • Make time to eat three meals a day and take the time to enjoy the experience
  • Get some exercise, go for a walk
  • Play a board game or work on a jigsaw puzzle instead of watching TV
  • Laugh
  • Meditate
  • Go out to dinner with friends
  • Spend time on a hobby
  • Read a book

We are so careful about making sure that our cell phone is charged, yet many of us don’t take the same care when it comes to recharging ourselves. Take the time to recharge, you’ll get more done.
