Just the other day in our neighborhood we heard the sound of dueling wood chippers. Neighbors next door and across the street each lost trees recently. Actually, we have had a summer of falling trees. The first one, which blocked off the entrance to our cul-de-sac, happened about six weeks ago when a brief, yet violent storm passed over our neighborhood. About ten days later, another storm passed through knocking over trees at the other end of the street.
I commented on Facebook about the dueling wood chippers and our niece replied “it seems like you’re losing a lot of trees”. Indeed, five trees have had to be removed and numerous others have been trimmed back. I couldn’t help but see that Mother Nature was taking a moment to clear out the clutter, get rid of what was no longer needed and make room for the new. When was the last time you did that in your office?
While dealing with the clutter and chaos in your office you might feel like you are in the eye of the storm – I’ve experienced that so many times with clients; it gets worse before it gets better! Once the cleanup is done that “fresh start” feeling settled in. It feels good, it feels refreshing, it feels invigorating! So follow Mother Nature’s lead and clear out the clutter and make room for the new.
